stationary love

main cats

I've always been an internet person, meaning that I prefer communication over the web than in-person or by phone. Aside from the fact that I grew up with a computer in-house, I also reveled in my introvert tendencies, by keeping my head in a book throughout my teenage years. I discovered that I was much more of a visual communicator, which meant that photo-journal blogs were a perfect match for me. However, this year I was bitten by the stationary bug and it feels like the perfect method to express yourself in a delightful manner.

I have a steadily growing collection of decorative paper sheets and envelopes, but I felt that something was missing. I designed the envelopes above, for the cat person in myself and because of my current obsession with coral and gold. I'm still working out the details, but I'll be adding them to my shop in the next two weeks with some other feline goodies. Stay posted!

the cards
cards spread

Postcards are one of my favorite things to collect, especially while on travels! I designed this set of four Christmas Around the World Postcards for the holiday season. If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen the painting stage. It took me about two weeks of painting after school before I completed them. It was quite an adventure and even my cat Erlend made it to one of them! ♥

France, Scandinavia, the UK, and good ole' America are all represented.

Here's another envelope that I designed. If everything goes smoothly, I'll have a complete stationary collection by Spring 2013!

These are some of the stationary pieces that I've collected. I bought most of it from PuchiMo on Etsy and at my local Paper Source store!

my favorite envelopes

At the moment I'm primarily writing letters to my sister in England, but I'm hoping to expand my penpal-ing horizons! If you're interested in swapping letters/postcards with me, send an email to hallovalerie@gmail.com and I'll gladly exchange information with you. I'm open to all countries and hope some folks from faraway lands will oblige! Have a great week everyone x

Update: Thanks for all the penpal inquiries. I've reached my penpal limit for now, but I'll open it up once again in the future, when I have a little bit more time! Can't wait to chat with those who wrote me! :)

  6. Oh, I just love stationary. And I've always been an introverted type as well, so writing a letter (or a blog) suits me quite well. Those envelopes look so professional! Coral + gold is a lovely combination. I think it'd be so cool to be pen-pals (I've always wanted one), so I'll definitely be in touch! x

    1. That sounds so sweet! I only had an online penpal when I was younger, and I remember it was such a meaningful relationship. There's so much you can learn from someone when it's just them and a piece of paper! Thanks for the lovely compliments Hannah :)

I can't wait to see the collection either because it's mostly floating around in my head. I hope everything works out :)

    1. Aww you are too sweet! You have definitely captured how I feel at times with all of the work that I've signed on to do! It's been a whirlwind of projects, but I can definitely say that it's worth it to see the final product, and to receive such amazing feedback from my fellow bloggers. You'll have to tell me how Prague was for you, or at least I hope to read about it on your blog :) Hope you're doing swell Nana xx

  16. Haha, I love the cat message on the envelope. I remember when you told me you had bought a variety of stationary, but DAMN. Lol. I feel so behind. I bookmarked some on Etsy, but haven't followed through on adding them to my basket. I will do so immediately. Keep up the good work btw! :) xx

    1. Thanks Vanessa! I can't believe you'll be here soon and I'm looking forward to some fun times ahead. I actually have even more stationary but I didn't want to whip it all out! I got carried away in the summertime when I had far too much free time on my hands haha. I loved your stationary already so I don't think you have to do much more :)

  17. so many beautiful things! i think i'm definitely going to have to buy some of your christmas tags but i think i'll wait until your incredible cat stationery is in your shop too so i can order them together. you're doing such a wonderful job, i'm so happy for you! :)

also i'd love to be penpals but i have a terrible track record of keep these things going and writing replies on time, etc. i'm not sure how many you've already got but if you do find yourself in need of one more after you've already written all your letters let me know and i'll try my very best! jessbialkowski@gmail.com i just don't want to email you promising to be the best penpal ever because my history would disagree! haha. x

    1. Thanks Jessica for your adorably sweet comments! I'm excited for future projects and can't wait to see where it goes! I'll be having new cat-tags quite soon, so keep your eyes open for that :) I only have two packs of cat envelopes for this month, but I'll be re-ordering if it sells out fast! Also - I definitely understand your trepidation about penpal-ing. I can be bad at responding to some correspondances, but I think a simple short letter will suffice in most cases and it doesn't have to be every week. I'll email you later this week after I've written out a few of the letters, no worries! :)
