on the sea

Aside from the actual joy of going on a trip, I always revel in the planning aspect, such as determining what to visit and collecting useful garments. I always visualize a mood, and in this case it revolved around my romantic idea of a boating adventure. Donald and I have never been on a cruise before, in fact we are perhaps the anti-cruise type, mostly preferring to do everything by foot or on our own. However, it has always been my dream to sail within many Fjords and to reach Iceland by crossing the Norwegian sea. This map shows where we'll be.

Sea essentials: My swimsuit, a favorite read, my sunglasses, and two pairs of shoes. All that's missing is my headscarf for the wind.

I mentioned my successul vintage shopping trip in the previous post, where I found everything I had hoped for. I had been searching for a special hat to compliment a few daytime outfits, and found the perfect one that fits so comfortably. Additionally, I wanted a very detailed evening dress for special occasions, the kind that makes you look like a sparkling gem. The dress is heavy, but feels so luxurious!

Of course Erlend wanted to be included in the photographs. She decided to plop down on my swimsuit and then proceeded to play with my sunglasses. I will miss her immensely, but luckily still have a week left to enjoy her antics!

    1. Thanks Anh! I never thought I'd be on a cruise, in fact I used to poke fun at them for years. That was until I found out they went to Norway, the Faroe Islands, and Iceland - then I changed my opinion! x

  7. The cruise you're going on sounds amazing, actually, I'm putting it on my list of things to do in my life (it appeals to me way more than the usual cruise-y type locations!). Your swimsuit is adorable! The evening dress you picked up is gorgeous as well.

    1. I agree, I have never been interested in most typical cruise locations such as the Caribbean or Hawaii. You will never find me there! They also have cruises that go to Patagonia and I would love to see that as well. Essentially, wherever fjords are and glaciers, I'd be up for a cruise :)

I love the colors and little cat icons! You're going to have such a wonderful trip. I've always wanted to go to Norway. And your sea essentials are perfect!

    1. Hello Angie! I am having the hardest time remembering. It was either Asos (I think it was) or Topshop. I remember they were called "butterfly cat eye" so a bit different than just regular cat eye sunglasses :) And thank you! They were so fun to wear in Iceland because all the people with quirky style there gave me compliments haha!
