a place to call my own

I thought I'd culminate the tour of my home with the kitchen and dining area, since they are my favorite and ought to be saved for last! Living in a rented apartment can be tough at times with the limitations which are inherent, such as no painting. I love bright additions of color with the help of appliances, since they warm up the room instantly. I feel that your home should reflect your interests, whether it be cooking, reading novels or storing a small record collection nearby. Needless to say, I enjoy all of them very much!

I have an absurdly large collection of magnets from different parts of the world. I keep them hidden on the side of our refrigerator and only have a few on the front from Denmark, Paris, Koln and the Czech Republic with vintage postcards underneath. Truthfully, I wish I would have amassed a much cooler souvenir collection, but alas I cannot turn back time! The best pot in the world (Le Creuset) sits atop.

I rarely drink coffee, but clearly Donald does!

In another room I have a "work desk" which basically means that I use it to forcefully study. I keep dessert boxes to rest my cat calendar on, which is from 2011. I suppose I will just keep celebrating 2011! Some of my favorite images are over my desk like patisserie sweets, Alphonse Mucha keepsakes and a photo of Erlend of course. I have others of Sofia Coppola and me in London nearby as well.

Do you keep your favorite things nearby in your own space?

    1. Thank you Sophie! Many years ago I temporarily worked at a department store with kitchen appliances and would always pass by that stand mixer. I lusted after it for years. Wonderfully, my boyfriend gave it to me as a christmas present some time later :)

  5. You have such a lovely home, I would move in immediately ;). And funnily enough I also have a collection of magnets from all over the world, I started it when I was about 12 and now I can't stop. I want to start collecting bracelets though, that would be a little 'cooler'.

    1. Haha we are souvenir twins! My sister and I started the tradition in 2008 but she made a smart move by collecting thimbles. Now she has them on a cute little stand from all over the world. Pfft :)

  6. Your place is just so lovely. I love the hints of robin's egg blue in your appliances. I have a bunch of Monet prints above my desk - the best place for personal wall decorations in my opinion! I've really enjoyed this little series of virtual tours around your home :)

    1. Thanks Emily :) Monet prints sound lovely and I agree that over your desk is the best place to amass an impressive paper goods collection, or photographs. The series was fun for me too, and it allowed me to move past my shyness of showing so much of myself x

  8. Ahhh is that the mint kitchenaid?! I've just posted about it on my blog, it's so gorgeous. But yours might be the light blue one, which is also very pretty. I love the colour palette you've used and your fridge decor! x

    1. Thanks Charlotte - it's actually neither the mint or baby blue, I believe it was just called "Martha Stewart Blue" at the time and they don't sell them anymore. She had the best line of teal appliances but she still makes a lot of accessories :)

    1. Haha that's a good reason! I actually use it for all kinds of things, and it really comes in handy for holidays (mashed potatoes, tamales) or making doughs. I don't bake too much either, but even when not in use it looks so pretty! :)
