celebratory moments

The last two weeks have been quite busy, and will continue to be until my vacation in a few weeks. After designing the cookbook, I had a string of other projects and events that came up. They were all lovely, but taxing! First it was my sister's birthday weekend, full of fun late-night dinners and nostalgic recollections, and then it was Donald's final week at university. We drove through the winding canyons near our home, which resemble beautiful Peruvian mountain cliffs, to reach the beaches of Malibu for a much deserved ocean break.

After graduating high school some years ago, Donald turned down a full scholarship in his home state, to move to Los Angeles and live with me. I always admired his decision to go against the expected route and live his life in a meaningful way. It also meant that we could start our life together right away, which worked out so well. Although it took longer to finish, I am so pleased that he graduated!

Celebration meals were in order with Mochi ice cream and delicious veggie burgers. Yum!

We ended up at the four seasons one night, visiting his parents and playing many games of scattergories. I loved the interior of the hotel, where even the women's bathroom had elaborate wall-coverings and Impressionist paintings. Hope you had a great weekend too x

p.s. thank you for the amazing cookbook feedback!

  6. Whoa, that is indeed admirable... turning down a full scholarship. And a beach trip to Malibu doesn't sound too bad either! Your weeks seem so good, I wish I had a bit more time on my hands to start doing these things, it's all exams-and-papers-stress right now.
