rainy day

I don't usually enjoy rainy days, perhaps because I am accustomed to mild sunny weather and feel odd carrying an umbrella. I certainly loved them as a child, being able to create paper sailboats and see them on their way. Sunday afternoon was so incredibly calm, a welcome change from the last week of endless studying. Since Erlend is back to her usual ways I spent the day with her, laughing at her strange choice of resting spots. I suppose rainy days aren't so bad after all.

Erlend looking out. She both loved and feared the rain.

A glance at my newest dress, sent in the mail by Sugar Lips. I never get tired of polka dots! I'm going to wear it with one of my button ups.

Picked this up over the weekend. I love the smell.

She even listens to records with me. The perfect companion, aside from Donald of course. A rainy day deserves a song:

  3. :) Erland is so cute :) Geez coming from Scotland, we get too much rain and not enough sunshine! :) Me and my cats love sunshine, yesterday was beautiful, the first real day of spring, sunshine! yay! My wee friend Suki was rolling about in the flower beds purring, roasting hot and loving it! :) Bliss! :) Enjoy your week LA friend! Zoë x

    1. Gosh it must be tough to live in a rainy landscape, but that means the grass and flowers look even more beautiful! Scotland is definitely beautiful and worth all the rain! How sweet that your cat goes outside and rolls in the flowers, I wish my cats could do that :)

  4. Oh, your cat looks adorable. And so does your new dress! That Roy Orbison track is great. It sounds like a great rainy day, lazing on a couch or something and staring out of the window.

That ossiary seems awesome! I wish I can go to Prague someday! and naah, I think it's ok to get joy from dead people's bones haha! I love creepy things too :))
I had never heard Roy Orbison, he's great! You have the greatest taste in music, I only discovered Arvo Pärt through you and it's so beautiful. I want to listen to it in a train ride as well haha XD

    1. Thanks Nana, me too! She's my little companion and I need her around for many more years! :o You are so close to Prague (relatively anyway) so maybe one day you'll go. If you like creepy/weird things, it's the perfect place haha! They like to revel in odd things, and are super friendly! Me and Donald want to go back someday. Oh wow, Roy Orbison is like classic American music and he is always on the oldies station over here haha. I'm glad that you liked it and that you listen to Arvo Pärt now! He is a deity in my book :)

  8. I also enjoyed the rain. Considering we hardly get any it's borderline natural phenomena. Haha.

I went to the market during the break in rain and the streets were lovely and calm. Hope we get another serene day like this :) And I'd love to sail paper boats again. Sans worms. Lol.

    1. Haha it is like a natural phenomenon, and everyone in L.A. loses their mind. We went out at night for an ice cream run and the streets were so empty too! Then our garage was halfway flooded, so that was not fun. The combination of it being a rainy day + Sunday made it feel so calm though. We should sail boats again and HAHA at the worms. I thought they were like little passengers that wanted to go on an adventure :)

  9. Rainy days are wonderful every once in a while. I never sailed paper boats as a child, but that sounds like lots of fun. I think a day spent with pets, listening to records and watching the rain is certainly a day well spent.

    1. I agree! I don't always have such calm days. That's so funny, I just figured everyone sailed paper boats. My sister and I went a step further and drew little people inside, and even put worms in there to go on a ride. Needless to say, we were clearly bored! Haha! x

  10. oh my GOD your cat! SO ADORABLE ;_; That dress is so beautiful as well! I wouldn't say that the rain was that bad, since you took the restlessness you felt and channeled it into taking these gorgeous photographs!

  12. We've had loads of rainy days here in minneapolis, too. While I think they're pretty, I also find them horribly un-motivational and depressing! Your cat is super cute-- I'm about to move to a pet friendly apartment and am kitten shopping :)

    1. Kitten shopping sounds amazing! We found both of our cats in an alley when they were babies, so they just fell into our laps :) Hope the sun comes back for both of our sakes! x
